Age of Conan doing just fine after 1yr online

Age of Conan celebrated their 1 year anniversary in the online gaming world with a bang. The fantasy based game is still seeing a significant growth in its player numbers. Old players continue to play and an ever increasing number of people are joining their ranks. There are currently over 1.2 millions copies of the game sold worldwide and more everyday. The game was on top of the charts in 17 different countries in the weeks following its launch 1 year ago. To celebrate all characters in their online realm will receive free fireworks and are encouraged to paint a new sky in the streets of Hyboria. Prizes will be given to top screen captures.

New Gear added to DJ Hero

For those hungry for more info on the highly anticipated DJ Hero from Guitar Hero maker Activision here is some juicy gossip to feast on. We already know what the controller will look like with a turntable set up and 3 colored buttons. Now we find out a clip on “Mixer” will also be included that includes a cross-fader, effects dial and and Euphoria Button. The Euphoria button is much like Guitar Hero’s “Star Power”. The game play will be just like Guitar Hero but with only 3 buttons but your cross fader will have to be set correctly. There are also plans for scratching sections to make it all real like.

Partial DJ Hero Tracklist Leaked

It seems that a partial track list has leaked its way on to the Internet for the upcoming Activision release: DJ Hero. A spin-off from the popular Guitar Hero line. Instead of making your way to rock stardom this time you hit the dance scene and try to brings the dance floor to a boil. US gaming mag “Game Informer”got their hands on a partial track listing for the game, as you can see it consists mostly of mash ups.

Expect a younger Lara Croft in next movie and game

Just as Dan Lin is basking in the glory of his soon to be released sequel Terminator Salvation the action movie producer is getting ready for a new Lara Croft movie and game combo. This time around Lara will be younger and the story will focus on her origins rather than what we have seen so far. It’s a great origin story that we’re going to tell,” says Lin. He goes on to say that the story will be more character driven with less emphasis on thrills and action. The new sequel is setting out to revitalize the mega-franchise much like Batman Begins and the Xmen: Wolverine movies.

Halo 3 still top First Person Shooter

The fresh and new Killzone 2 is still being outsold by the Legendary Halo 3. Killzone 2 made some serious hay in April selling some 58,000 units in the US but was outdone by both Halo 3 and Halo Wars with each selling somewhere in the 57,000 - 74,000 unit level. Halo 3 is still the first person shooter to beat and has been for most of the 20 months it has been on the gaming market. Halo 3 was originally released in September of 2007 and sales still remain strong after all this time. The large amount of downloadable content is seen as a huge boost to Halo 3 sales.

EA sees long future with Wii

Electronic Arts senior producer Joe Booth has recently stated that the gaming industry “woken up to Wii” finally and EA sports will be looking to “break some new games and take some risks” on the popular active platform. EA sports is believed to be working on Nintendo only games that will work with the unique gaming style of the Wii. “I can’t speak for the rest of the industry or all of EA but I can speak for my group when I say I think we’ve turned a corner and the industry has woken up to Wii in the right way,” said Booth.

Tony Hawk not 360 exclusive in UK

Internet reports show that the new Tony Hawk: Ride game will not be exclusive to the Xbox 360 within the UK. The latest installment of the famous Tony Hawk skater series will feature a plastic skateboard that actually allows you to do the tricks. A spokesman for Activision says that the rumours of exclusivity are not true and that they expect that the game will be released for all platforms: Microsoft, Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. There are still rumours that a exclusive deal could be worked out before the expected release date.
